Chris’ input lead us ( at Gensler) to modify and improve our design, to take advantage of options and effects SLD’s lighting itself brought to the project. SLD was very flexible in helping us deal with changes from the building ownership team, as they made adjustments (during design and later, during construction) to accommodate special requests received from tenants who wanted to customize the building late in the process.
St. Raymond of Penafort church
Our 10-year-old church has been 'lighting challenged" since it opened; Chris understood our challenges and our goals. From that first meeting in the fall of 2016 through concepts, design, bidding, and ultimately completion of the work this August, Chris has been accessible, knowledgeable, and very easy to work with. The final product - a properly-lit Catholic church - is been drawing rave reviews from parishioners and others.
In addition to being a lighting designer [Chris] is an architect so he really understands space and how things get built. [Because of] his experience with museum lighting, he is always thoughtful about subtle things like glare and reflection, aspects that really impact quality of experience. I know we are going to have a great space when he’s on the team.
